The Mobile Media API (JSR-135) is implemented in Series 40 and Symbian devices that support Mobile Information Device Profile (MIDP) 2.0 - in both Series 40 and Symbian platforms, the MMAPI is supported already from 1st Edition onwards. The API allows MIDlets to use various media types more powerfully. These MIDlets are able to play several kinds of audio and video, capture images using the camera (see document Camera MIDlet: A Mobile Media API Example), and adjust many of these operations using special kinds of controls.
The MM API is supported in Series 40 and Symbian with clarifications detailed in the Mobile Media API (JSR-135): Implementation Notes. The API was introduced in S60 1st Edition and in Series 40 1st Edition.
