You need a Series 40 SDK that supports the packages used in this example. A Series 40 5th Edition Feature Pack 1 or later is required. Other important tools are described in Development environment requirements.
You will also need to set up the resource material on an internet server from where it can be downloaded by the example MIDlet. When you are testing on the emulator, you may need to configure your firewall or internet settings. Another option is to use your local workstation as a web server (by using Apache HTTP Server, for example) and load the resources from there.
The example MIDlet needs to be installed in JAM (Java Application Manager). In other words, MIDlet installation and execution can only be done in OTA mode. You also need to pay attention to proxy settings:
When using localhost distribution, you
must disable HTTP proxy in Emulator Preferences.
When using a remote host, you need to enter the correct proxy server.
