Service discovery

Service discovery is based on the Service Discovery Protocol (SDP). In wired networks, there is normally a central infrastructure for managing connections; Bluetooth doesn’t provide this. Instead, connections are made dynamically, and devices must determine what services are provided on discovered devices. This is called service discovery, which is the process by which applications locate and gather information about other services in the vicinity. Once a desired service has been discovered on a nearby device, an application may attempt to connect to the service and use it.
