This document describes the usage of the DbCreator tool. It shows how to extend the architecture of the CommsDat database with WLAN and data mobility specific tables, and how to create pre-installed destination networks, GPRS, CSD, HSCSD, VPN, LAN and WLAN connection methods (i.e. how to fill the Symbian OS's CommsDat database with factory data) in WINSCW environment.
The DbCreator WINSCW console utility can be used to import destination networks, GPRS, CSD, HSCSD, LAN, WLAN and VPN connection method data from a text file to the CommsDat. The tool is also capable of extending the CommsDat database with WLAN and data mobility specific tables.
DbCreator uses CmManager (see References) to manipulate the CommsDat database. The input file must contain valid destination network or connection method data or the import operation fails. It is not possible to corrupt the CommsDat by using DbCreator.
To use the created CommsDat database in hardware, it must be transferred to an ARMv5 location, included in the ROM image creation and flashed to the phone.
