S60 3rd Edition SDK for Symbian OS, Feature Pack 2 v1.1 supports an exciting new feature called the Web Run-Time, which brings the power and convenience of widgets to mobile devices. Widgets are lightweight Web applications developed using standards-based Web technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and even AJAX. Mobile widgets give S60-based device users a full Web experience with instant access to the most essential Web 2.0 services and Internet content.
Existing Web based tools can be used to design and implement widgets. In addition, the S60 3rd Edition SDK for Symbian OS, Feature Pack 2 v1.1, for MIDPC++, supports the Web runtime environment and networking functionality for developing and testing widgets in the emulator.
