What's New

The following are the new features supported in Nokia SDK 1.1 for Java:

  • In-app Purchase

In-app purchase simulation in SDK allows the developer to use In-app APIs in the application (compilation support) and test the In-app purchase behavior (run time support) in an easy way. Actual “In-app purchase” use case involves contacting content server, handle purchase related money transactions, get the content, download the content, and install. These complex operations make it difficult for the developer to test their applications which uses In-app APIs. To overcome this, SDK provides In-app simulation which allows the developer to set the expected behavior for “In-app purchase” enabled application, and while running the MIDlet, the SDK ensures the same behavior replicates with In-app use cases. In-app purchase simulation now supports two test modes namely, SDK simulation and the Nokia Publish Server.

For more information, see In-app purchase.

  • System Properties Simulation

    • Emulator Battery Settings:

Emulator Battery Settings is a new feature supported in this release of SDK .

For more information, see Emulator Battery Settings.

    • Mobile Network Settings:

Mobile Country Code(MCC)/Mobile Network Code(MNC) under Mobile Network Settings is one of the new features supported.

For more information, see Mobile Network Settings.

    • IMEI simulation:

IMEI simulation is one of the new features supported. Enter *#06# from keypad to view the IMEI number of the emulator. Each instance of the emulator will have a unique IMEI number.

For more information, see IMEI Simulation.

  • Installer

The installer is available in two modes:

    • Online mode: Online mode of installer downloads the required files from online repository which requires internet connection.

    • Offline mode: Offline mode of installer contains all the required files packed in single exe which installs the SDK components.

In addition, the installer is now component based, which contains different components including NCF as an option. Users can choose the components to install. The installer creates a desktop short cut and a quick launch for the emulator. These shortcut options are enabled by default during installation.

  • Touch and Type UI emulation

Nokia SDK 1.1 for Java supports Series 40 Touch and Type APIs (Gesture and FrameAnimator) and QWERTY keypad on emulator.

For more information on emulating QWERTY keypad, see Emulating phone key pad using keyboard shortcuts.

  • Call Simulation

Call Simulation between emulator instances is possible. User can simulate the basic call feature between two Emulator instances. For more information, see Call Simulation.

  • Other features

    1. Support for SMS without NCF.

    2. Support for call simulation between Emulator instances.

    3. Support for limited keyboard 4x10 replacing ITU-T Keypad.

    4. Support for Nokia Browser replacing OSS browser

    5. Support for Eclipse Indigo

    6. Support for new languages for localization
