Overview

The Nokia Asha software platform introduces new APIs and changes in the user interface. The aim of this section is to outline what has changed in this platform, and how to modify your existing Series 40 full touch MIDlets to work and take advantage of the Nokia Asha software platform.

The features introduced in the Nokia Asha software platform include:

  • New refreshing UI

  • New UI components

  • New improved Oracle Hotspot Java VM (OJWC v3.1)

  • New Java APIs

  • Rotation sensor

  • Location retrieval over Wi-Fi

  • Conformation to Java Runtime for Nokia Asha software platform (1.0)

  • Support for 3” QVGA TFT display

  • New physical button — Back key
